#ValeryTheDreamer

Just the other day, my friend posted a picture of us two together and used the hashtag #ValeryTheDreamer. I smiled and started thinking about how many times my friends have called me that: “The Dreamer“. The one who is always with the head in the clouds, dreaming of happy ever afters and things that can never be. Giving chances after chances and seeing the best side of people.

And they are right.. I am a dreamer. I always was. But I don’t see myself as the one that pictures unicorns and Prince Charmings.

It’s more about believing everything is possible as long as you truly want it. I’m the dreamer that falls, that breaks, the one that hurts, but the one that would give everything to everyone, the one that would give everything just to feel!

Because feeling is what makes us human. It’s what allows me to discover parts of me that I didn’t know existed.

Dreaming, feeling.. these are ways of knowing  that I will make it through every storm, and that everything will be alright in the end.

I dream of happiness – not only for me, but for every person who crosses my path, and for every person who doesn’t.

I dream of freedom – that type that could take you to the end of the world and back. The type of freedom that makes you feel alive. The one that could make you wake up one day and push you to change your life completely.

I dream of kindness – because, my friends, kindness is never enough…

I dream of a life well spent… of memories well kept..

I dream of that real love that could change the world.. or at least your world…

I dream of finding positive thoughts every day.

Sometimes I believe that I look at the world with the eyes of a child. Not because I’m not mature enough or I don’t know the meaning of having responsibilities. But because I cherish every moment. All the small, apparently insignificant things, are so special to me.

We have to smile and be happy for the simple events in life: a hug, a flower, a cup of tea during a rainy day, talking to friends, listening to your favourite song, dancing under the stars, walking barefoot, chocolate, the full moon and a starry night…

Cherish all those things and you’ll see your life becoming lighter, happier, better.

As for me, I don’t think I’ll ever change. Heck, I don’t want to change.

I’ll always stop and smell the flowers on the street, sit on a bench in the park and imagine what’s going on in peoples’ lives.. the struggles, the happiness. I’ll always stare at the full moon and look for my favourite stars in the sky. And I’ll always want the best for everyone.. even if they hurt me. Because I do believe in second chances… and third, and fourth and fifth. It might take me a while to realise I’m an idiot, but even then, I don’t regret having tried, having believed. People can sometimes prove us wrong, and who am I to judge your choices.

And I’ll always believe in happy endings – not because life is easy, on the contrary. It is hard, but we are fighters, and we don’t give up. We give everything we’ve got to overcome difficulties.

My current motto is:

“Everything is going to be ok in the end. If it’s not ok, then it is not the end.”

PS:

I’ll always dream of beautiful sunsets spent with you…. traveling the world and admiring its beauty.

And all of this will happen – because dreams can become reality…

If you really want them to.
